This image inspired the following thoughts........

SUNRISE IN KENSINGTON GARDENS

In the darkness before dawn the trees are mere silhouettes against the city glow, the Gardens are quiet but in the distance can be heard the sounds of London waking.
Light seeps across the sky like water spilling from a well below the horizon and the treetops begin to reveal their monochrome patterns, for colour has yet to enter this grey world; while under the trees the night lingers on as if reluctant to face the coming day.
Quite suddenly the first birds sing out in the growing flood of light; a mist rises and spiders’ webs, hung like delicate diamond necklaces, reveal a miniature woodland panorama within each liquid jewel.
The sun’s rim appears and colour returns to the Gardens with exaggerated hues of red and orange and, as the first commuters scuttle along the Broad Walk, Kensington Gardens welcomes another day.

I have developed a style of presentation that makes the image literally "stand out".  I bond the print onto a rigid black foamboard to make what I call a "Fine Art Paper Tile" and then mount this onto a stretched canvas frame.  For small works I use a single "tile" for the whole image, whereas for larger works I split the image into several "tiles".  I was inspired to use this tiling technique by none other than David Hockney who paints his large scale landscapes on multiple canvasses.
